Lunch & Learn – Internal Communications
Rachel Verslues, director of marketing and communications for Primaris Deidra Ashley, communications specialist at MU Health Care

PRSA has been instrumental throughout my career. The greatest benefit is being connected with a strong community of marketing and communication professionals. Being able to bounce off ideas and learn from experts in different areas is invaluable. From crisis management to making videos or writing great content, PRSA covers it. Not to mention, whether highly engaged or only involved on a casual basis, you have endless resources available to you. Making time for your profession is the best way to keep learning and growing, both personally and professional. One last thought--the people of PRSA are so great that members who start out as professional colleagues often develop into personal friends.

I didn't know how much I would benefit from getting to know some of the most incredible communications professionals in the area. PRSA has helped me network but has also offered my students opportunities to meet people and get a foot in the PR world.

The programming the mid-Missouri PRSA chapter offers is outstanding, timely and relevant. I have been a member for several years and the insight I have gained from colleagues at events and the expert speakers the chapter brings in has been invaluable. There is also a sense of comradery with other members as they are facing the same challenges and successes in their industries. Attending the events and being part of the organization encourages me to take a step back and view our organization from different angles and implement more effective communications strategies.
